Pastoralism and sustainability: Participatory planning for the governance of extensive grazing in Turkey

6/28/24

This project aimed to develop climate-resilient livestock systems by highlighting the difference between low-impact extensive grazing and environmentally harmful industrial systems. Through a participatory approach and arts-based workshops in two distinct rangeland areas in Turkey, solutions for climate adaptation and rangeland management plans were co-created. These plans were shared at a festival organized by our association in July 2025, setting the stage for a broader policy discussion on Turkey's emerging climate-livestock policies.
