As Boğatepe Environment and Life Association, we have been developing projects that combine nature, culture, and community-driven development since the beginning. By blending local wisdom with scientific methods, we work in areas ranging from biodiversity and solidarity tourism to women's empowerment and climate-friendly production. Through national and international partnerships, these projects aim to provide sustainable solutions for rural areas, inspired by the Boğatepe model.

Project Date: 10.2025 - 12.2028

Funder/Supporter: European Union Erasmus+

Sector: Research, Pastoralism, Dairy Production, Artisanal Cheesemaking, Value Chain, Marketing

The project aims to create and test a curriculum and training materials which aim to increase the knowledge of pastoralists, transhumants, shepherds, breeders, territorial cheese makers, facilitators, and experts on agrosylvopastoralist practices, on the following topics:

  • Heritage and agroecological practices in agrosylvopastoralism,

  • Improving the value chain in dairy production,

  • Reaching territorial markets and the effective use of social media

All activities primarily focus on principles of agroecology and agroecological practices, with special emphasis on how pastoralism, when properly performed, can help mitigate and adapt to climate change. These activities will result in a digital learning space with training, self-assessment and exchange tools, as well as an international community for peer-to-peer learning, experience sharing and support.

The general objectives of the project are:

  1. Create a community of peer-to-peer learning and support for pastoralists, cheesemakers and their networks.

  2. Develop the partners’ capacities for shaping innovative learning spaces for pastoralists and cheesemakers.

  3. Build educational pathways into economically and socially sustainable pastoralist activities for the youth.

  4. Contribute to the reputation of pastoralism in the public by emphasizing its role in food security in the context of climate change.
